So this'll be the rich media bit of Vox. The video is of my implant unlocking the door to my unfinished home office, then unlocking my desktop (MacOS).
So this is Vox eh?, one of those fancy Web 2.0 thingums.
I have to start by saying that I've been let down by so-called Web 2.0 'applications' in the past. I don't understand things like MySpace... I both understand and like LinkedIn as a business thing and I like LiveJournal as a simple way of finding out what my friends are up to. I don't think either LinkedIn or LiveJournal have the perfect interfaces.
I have to admit that when I was in Toronto last September I met Evan from Odeo he explained to me what they were all about and I was quite excited but in reality, once I got home and tried it, no matter how desperately I wanted to like the cool kids I just didn't 'get' Odeo. In theory it's a great idea but after 30 minutes of using it I'd lost interest. My podcasts come from iTunes now.
So, like I was saying, I don't understand the appeal of MySpace.
So when I was told that Vox was Six Apart's "MySpace for grown-ups" I couldn't help but wonder where LJ fit into things.
Ahhh but apparently a big part of MySpace is rich media... I like rich media, I 'get' rich media!... yes, a rich media blog for grown-ups... with added social networking. I like the sound of that.
(I still don't think I 'get' Vox entirely, but I've had this account for exactly 1 hour now so Vox is doing better than Odeo).
